DEMOLITION REVIEW
The Department of Licenses & Inspections issued 543 demolition permits to real estate speculators in 2019, the most in Philadelphia’s recorded history. 518 demolition permits were issued in 2018. The City must heighten scrutiny on the destruction of our historic assets.

Philadelphia is facing a demolition crisis! New legislation is desperately needed to empower residents to halt this continuing assault on the fabric of their neighborhoods. A sliding scale system of designation and regulation will give that right to every threatened community, not just the wealthy.
